certainly not the luxurious retreat I had imagined. my room was musty, and full of dust, not to mention the kitchen odors wafting in, quite charming, really. I almost thought a complimentary upgrade would have been appropriate, but alas, I guess that’s just for the special guests, huh? too bad I just couldn’t rate it higher.

What they don’t tell you
This ryokan offers a magnificent blend of tradition and central vibrancy! With Dotonbori literally at your doorstep, you can indulge in countless food adventures. The public onsen is a treasure, complemented by friendly staff and delightful breakfast options. Yet, the building's age shows—old fixtures might slightly detract from the charm. A memorable stay overall!

public Japanese baths, vibrant Dotonbori nightlife, tatami room with a canal view
The bathrooms are astonishingly cramped for large suitcases!!! The communal baths can accommodate only four guests at a time, which can be quite inconvenient during busy periods!!! Should consider additional space for luggage!!!

It was just a balanced option for a short stint in Osaka with great value-to-price ratio. The onsite gift shop had cute local items, perfect for picking up souvenirs. Keep an eye out for the tonkatsu sandwich vendor right outside for a quick meal.

Family recommended traditional experience
The ryokan had really traditional Japanese style rooms with tatami mats , and those futon beds took me back to memories of simpler times. I enjoyed that we had a nice little balcony to sit on and watch the lights of the nightlife. it's like a scene from a movie, and I felt right at home in the madness.
Yes , it wasn't exactly cheap but you know what, for the experience it was still acceptable.

I loved the cozy space with tatami mats and the super comfy futons that made sleep a dreamy experience. The public baths were a relaxing treat after a long day, which added to the authentic vibe. Just wish the towels were a bit softer, but that didn’t ruin my great time! 😊
